Uttar Pradesh / Bulandshahr: Death due to snake bite, the family hung the body in the Ganga river for 2 days in the hope of being alive

A surprising case has come to light from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. Here a young man was bitten by a poisonous snake. The young man died due to snake bite, but the family members were hopeful that he would come alive, so they tied the young man with a rope and hanged him in the banks of river Ganga. When the poison did not subside and the young man did not come back alive, he was cremated.
Someone told the young man’s family that if he kept his dead body tied in the Ganga, his life could be saved. The deceased youth was the most loved one of his family members, so in the hope of his being alive, his body was kept tied and hanging on the banks of river Ganga for two days. The family was told that the poison gets removed by keeping the body in running water, but his life could not be saved. After this, the disappointed family members performed his last rites at Avantika Devi Ghat.
There was no movement in the young man’s body
On April 26, 20-year-old Mohit Kumar, resident of Jairampur Kudena village, had gone to the fields after voting. During this time he was bitten by a snake, about which he informed his family. The family took him to the doctor for treatment. When he could not get any relief, his family members took him for an exorcism, but his condition kept worsening. Some people told the family members that if the body of a snake bitten person is kept in the Ganga, the poison goes away. Due to this superstition, the family members hanged the young man in the middle of the banks of Ganga. Tied him to the pillar of the bridge. There was no movement in the body for a long time. When he did not regain his breath, he was later cremated.
