Rahul Gandhi wrote a letter to Siddaramaiah in Prajwal Revanna case

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has written a letter to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asking him to provide all possible help to the victims of harassment by Janata Dal Secular (JD-S) leader Prajwal Revanna. The former party president, in a letter to Siddaramaiah, condemned the actions of Karnataka MP Prajwal Revanna and accused him of being behind the actions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Taking aim at Prime Minister Modi, the Congress leader said that he has not yet seen such a public representative who has maintained silence on cases of violence against women.

Gandhi said in his letter to the Karnataka Chief Minister, ‘I request you (Siddaramaiah) to please provide all possible assistance to the victims.’ “They deserve our compassion and solidarity as they fight their battle for justice,” he said. It is our collective duty to ensure that all those responsible for these heinous crimes are brought to justice. Terming the incidents in question as ‘horrific sexual violence’, Gandhi alleged that Prajwal Revanna had sexually assaulted hundreds of women over the years and made videos of them. Rahul said, ‘Many of those women, who looked upon him as a brother and a son, were also violently brutalized and their dignity was violated. Strictest punishment needs to be given for raping our mothers and sisters.

The Congress leader said, ‘I am deeply shocked to know that in December 2023, G Devaraj Gowda had informed our Home Minister Amit Shah about the actions of Prajwal Revanna, especially his history and videos of sexual violence.’ He said what is even more shocking is that senior leaders of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Center were aware of these gruesome allegations but yet Modi campaigned for a ‘rapist’.

‘The central government deliberately allowed Revanna to escape from India’
Gandhi said, ‘Besides, the Central Government deliberately allowed Revanna to escape from India so as to harm the investigation. Considering the nature of these crimes and the benefits given to the JD(S) leader due to the Prime Minister and the Home Minister being at the helm, there should be strong condemnation. He alleged, ‘In my two decades of public service history, I have never seen a senior public representative who has maintained continuous silence on violence against women. From our wrestlers from Haryana to our sisters from Manipur, all Indian women are having to bear the brunt of the Prime Minister’s tacit support to such criminals.

‘It is the moral duty of Congress to fight for justice for mothers and sisters’
Gandhi said that it is the moral duty of Congress to fight for justice for mothers and sisters. He said, ‘I know that the Karnataka government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate these serious allegations and has also requested the Prime Minister to cancel the diplomatic passport of Prajwal Revanna and bring him to India as soon as possible. Have done.’ Siddaramaiah posted Gandhi’s letter on ‘X’. The senior Congress leader wrote on ‘X’, ‘The recent case related to Prajwal Revanna has shocked the country. Providing justice to victims is important to maintain faith in our legal system. Rahul Gandhi has written a letter emphasizing support for the victims. We are committed to providing all necessary assistance to ensure a fair process.
