Uttarakhand: Campaign against illegally parked vehicles on the Yatra route from today, strict action will be taken

A campaign will start from today against vehicles parked illegally on the Chardham Yatra route. Also, action will be taken against those hotel and restaurant owners who are not providing parking facilities to their employees and customers. This is encouraging illegal parking on the roadside.
Chief Secretary Radha Raturi directed to take strictest action against such vehicles. He said that there should be parking arrangements for tourists’ vehicles near rafting and camping sites in Rishikesh.
Let us tell you that during the travel season, there is a very serious traffic problem in Rishikesh, Lakshmanjhula, Muniki Reti, Tapovan and Srinagar. Keeping this in mind, the Chief Secretary took information about the traffic management action plan of the Director General of Police, Commissioner Garhwal and District Magistrates and Police Captains of Dehradun, Tehri and Pauri. He instructed the District Magistrates to send long-term proposals to the government soon. Also asked to take short term corrective steps immediately.
Instructions to work on proposals for alternative routes also
He also discussed the problem of illegal parking of vehicles parked on the roadside in Rishikesh and the traffic jam caused by it. He said that to solve this, efforts should be made to make parking arrangements in private land also. He instructed the officers that the trend of parking vehicles on the roads should not be tolerated under any circumstances. There should be strict action against this.
Besides, instructions have also been given to run a campaign against encroachment on the roads. He directed to immediately send proposals for widening of various narrow roads including Neelkanth to the government to deal with the problem of traffic jams at various places. He said that for the convenience of Chardham pilgrims, it is very important to improve the traffic management before the journey. He has also instructed the District Magistrates to work on the proposals for alternative routes of the Chardham Yatra route.
