Uttarakhand: Ban on burning of residue after harvesting in the fields, CM directs all DMs to monitor

In view of the increasing incidents of fire in the forests of Uttarakhand, the government has banned burning of residue after harvesting in the fields. Urban bodies will also not be able to burn their solid waste in forests or near forests.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given instructions to the Chief Secretary in this regard. The Chief Minister also directed that all the District Magistrates will monitor the forest fire every day for a week, while the residues left after harvesting of crops in the fields and urban bodies will not be able to burn the solid waste for a week. The forests of the state are continuously burning with fire.

A woman burnt to death in a fire in Pauri district. Forest Department officials say that the woman was burnt due to the fire that broke out in the napalm land. DFO has been ordered to investigate the matter. On the other hand, there have been incidents of forest fire at 24 places in the state from Garhwal to Kumaon.

Of these, maximum 22 incidents have occurred in Kumaon, while one incident each has occurred in Garhwal and Wildlife area. According to Additional Chief Forest Conservator Nishant Verma, senior officers of the Forest Department have been made district-wise nodal officers. Who will give their report every day.

Five people have died so far in the fire

So far, four people have died due to the fire in the forests of the state, while four others have been injured. Four people are confirmed dead. At the same time, the forest department officials say that the incident of the woman who is said to have died due to burn injuries in the fire in Pauri area is being investigated. While among the injured, three are from Kumaon and one from wildlife area.

351 cases filed so far on forest fire

According to Forest Department officials, action is being taken against those who set fire to the forest. There have been 351 cases so far. In this, 61 people have been named, while 290 cases have been registered against unknown people.
