Uttarakhand: Bulldozers will run on illegal settlements in Doon, Municipal Corporation has identified 129 settlements, 27 will be removed in the first phase

Now action has been started against the ongoing illegal construction in settlements located on the banks of rivers and streams. On the instructions of NGT and High Court, the Municipal Corporation has geared up to remove encroachments and illegal settlements after 2016. Under which, in the first phase, 27 illegal settlements have been identified by the Municipal Corporation from Kath Bangla to Mothrowala on the banks of Rispana River. The committee will prepare the investigation report and send notices to all of them.

27 slums identified in the first phase

Veer Gabbar Singh Colony Kishnagar, Kath Bungalow Dhak Patti, Kath Bungalow-2, Arya Nagar Basti Karanpur, Bardi Guard Jakhan, Ambedkar Colony DL Road Adhoiwala, Rispana Khatik Colony, Vijay Nagar Aghoiwala, Bhagat Singh Colony Aghoiwala, Panchpuri Chandra Nagar Dalanwala, Gandhi Basti Dalanwala, Chander Road Dalanwala, Balbir Road Dalanwala, Sanjay Colony Mohini Road Dharampur, Shiv Nagar Ajabpur, Rajiv Nagar Part-2 Rispana, Rajiv Nagar Part-1, Rispana Nagar Ajabpur Kala, Upper Rajiv Nagar Dharampur, Kedarpur Slum Kedarpur, Deep Nagar Ajabpur Kala, Rishi Nagar Aghoiwala, Rajiv Nagar Kandoli, Anand Gram Aghoiwala, Gas Godown Kishan Nagar Rajpur Road, Nemi Road Malin Dalanwala, Shastri Nagar Chuna Bhatta and Indra Puram Colony have been identified.

A total of 129 settlements identified in Dehradun

Let us tell you that a total of 129 settlements have been identified in Dehradun Municipal Corporation area, in which it is estimated that there will be 40 thousand buildings. However, according to the construction rules made after 2016, these have been declared illegal. Due to no restrictions, settlements were expanded illegally in different areas of the city and hundreds of new buildings were constructed. The Municipal Corporation did not even pay attention for the last eight years. Although land or houses cannot be bought or sold in slums, land and houses are bought and sold indiscriminately in all the slums of the city. Stamp papers ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 100 each were created and sold in settlements. Now the Municipal Corporation is conducting a survey to know the actual width of Rispana.

Energy Corporation and Water Institute are helping

Additional Municipal Commissioner Gopal Binwal said that in the first phase, 27 slums were identified along the banks of Rispana river from Kath Bangla to Mothrowala. After preparing the investigation report by the committee and presenting it to the Municipal Commissioner, work will be done to send notices to all the people living in slums. Also, construction after 2016 is illegal under the Slum Act. In such a situation, the Municipal Corporation team is investigating whether electricity and water connections have been taken in the slums after 2016 or not, for this the cooperation of Energy Corporation and Water Institute is also being taken.
