Lok Sabha Elections 2024: How much voting in which state in the third phase? Least votes cast in UP, see the figures….

In the third phase of Lok Sabha elections in the country, about 65 percent voting took place in 93 constituencies of 11 states and union territories on Tuesday. Sporadic violence has been reported in some parts of West Bengal. According to the Election Commission’s data till 12:15 pm, Assam had the highest voting percentage of 81.71 percent. The least voting took place in UP. Here only 57.34 percent people voted.

According to the Election Commission, these are estimated figures and they are likely to increase. The total voting percentage in the first and second phase of Lok Sabha elections was 66.14 percent and 66.71 percent respectively.

How many people were eligible to vote?

At least 17.24 crore people, including 8.39 crore women, were eligible to vote in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections and 1.85 lakh polling stations manned by 18.5 lakh officials were set up. With this, voting has been completed in 20 states/union territories and 282 Lok Sabha seats out of 543.

Sporadic violence in West Bengal

The third phase of Lok Sabha elections in four constituencies in West Bengal witnessed sporadic incidents of violence as Trinamool Congress, BJP and Congress-CPI-M workers clashed with each other in different parts of Murshidabad and Jangipur seats. According to state election officials, Murshidabad recorded the highest voter turnout at 80.13 percent, followed by Malda South (76.15 percent), Malda North (75.92 percent), and Jangipur (73.71 percent).

Trinamool Congress, BJP and Congress-Marxist Communist Party (CPI-M) lodged separate complaints related to election violence, voter intimidation and attack on election agent. The Election Commission received 182 complaints till 9 am, most of which were from Murshidabad and Jangipur constituencies.

Mohammed Salim, candidate of the Left-Congress alliance on Murshidabad seat, claimed, ‘TMC has established a reign of terror in the entire constituency. The Election Commission should take strict action.

There are reports of clashes between TMC and CPI(M) supporters outside some booths in Karimpur area of the seat. Clash has been reported between TMC and Congress workers from Domkol area.

In some areas, TMC workers protested alleging that central forces were assisting BJP workers in intimidating voters at booths in Malda North constituency.
