Rupali Chakankar belongs to the NCP led by state Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. “Chakankar and others disobeyed the orders of the polling booth official located in Sinhgadh Road area on Tuesday morning, went inside and worshiped the EVM,” a police officer said.

Against whom were the cases registered?

A case was registered under sections 131 (penalty for disorderly conduct at or near polling stations) and 132 (penalty for misconduct at polling stations) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, based on a complaint lodged by an Election Commission official.
