Punjab: New trouble for BJP candidate IAS Parampal from Bathinda, Punjab government immediately called him for duty

Lok Sabha elections 2024 have started in India. Voting for the third phase was also completed on Tuesday, May 7. In this election, many senior officials are also contesting the election either as independents or by joining any party. In this sequence, BJP has made IAS officer Parampal Kaur Sidhu its candidate from Bathinda Lok Sabha seat of Punjab. However, the Punjab government has created a big problem for him to contest the elections. Actually, Parampal Kaur Sidhu, while resigning from the post of IAS, had requested to waive the condition of three months notice period. However, the Punjab government has rejected his request.

State government can give relaxation in notice

The Punjab government has rejected the request of IAS officer Parampal Kaur Sidhu for voluntary retirement and asked her to assume charge immediately. The Centre’s Department of Personnel and Training had accepted his resignation but the state government has not accepted his resignation as an IAS officer. The State Government has said that relaxation in the notice period can be given only by the State Government and that too if it is satisfied for reasons recorded in writing.

State government alleged

A letter has been sent to Parampal Kaur Sidhu on behalf of the State Personnel Department. It says that you said that your mother is 81 years old and is not in good health, both your father and your younger brother have died a few years ago and there is no one to take care of your old mother in India, And you need it immediately. But you have been participating in political activities for the past several days which proves the basis of your voluntary retirement wrong.

Instructions to return to work

The Punjab government has said in its letter that there are 231 posts for IAS in the state but currently only 192 officers are working. For this reason many officers have been given many charges. Therefore the State Government has still not waived the notice period of three months required under Rule 16(2) and has also not issued any order regarding acceptance of VRS. In the letter, the government has said that Sidhu cannot be considered retired or relieved from service. Therefore, he should immediately return to his work otherwise appropriate action will be taken against him.
