Police in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city have arrested an Army jawan for demanding Rs 2.5 crore from Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas Danve for tampering with EVMs. Giving information about this, an official said on Tuesday that the leader of opposition in the state Legislative Council, Danve, had lodged a written complaint with the police that the accused Maruti Dhakane had allegedly defrauded him by claiming to tamper with the electronic voting machine through a chip. But he had asked for money.
‘After negotiations, the deal was finalized for Rs 1.5 crore’
Danve said in his complaint that the accused had claimed that this chip could help a particular candidate get more votes. Police said that the accused made this claim to repay his debt. He told that he does not know anything about EVM. According to the police, around 4 pm on Tuesday evening, the accused met Rajendra Danve, younger brother of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas, at a hotel near a bus stand here.
