Uttarakhand: Chief Minister reviewed drinking water and flood protection works with officials at Kashipur Sports Stadium

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that officials should work actively to ensure that there is no drinking water crisis anywhere in the district. Officials related to drinking water should visit their respective areas regularly and solve the problems related to drinking water. Along with repairing the leakage of drinking water lines immediately, work on the drinking water schemes under construction should be completed at a fast pace. He said that it is the summer season, hence water coolers and water coolers should be installed in the cities to provide cool drinking water to the common people. The Chief Minister gave these instructions in the meeting of officials held at Kashipur Sports Stadium during his visit to Kashipur. The Chief Minister also instructed the officials that the work of cleaning, dredging and channelization of drains should be completed before the monsoon and the work of construction and repair of safety walls on the river banks should be completed on time.

During the review, District Magistrate Uday Raj Singh informed the Chief Minister that there are 12,123 hand pumps in the district, out of which 11,578 hand pumps are working, and 545 hand pumps are faulty which will be repaired soon. Hand pumps are being made on priority in urban areas. Under Jal Jeevan Mission, 333 drinking water schemes are being made for 604 revenue villages. The work of all the schemes will be completed by the next month of August. He told that under the Amrit Yojana, seven tube wells and 6 high reservoirs are being constructed for 6 zones in Municipal Corporation Kashipur, out of which the work of 5 zones has been completed and transferred to the Jal Sansthan, while the plan for Zone 8 is underway. Construction has been completed, trial testing work is in progress. Similarly, under Amrit Yojana, drinking water scheme work has been completed in 5 zones of Municipal Corporation Rudrapur and water supply has been made smooth. He said that under the World Bank project, the Bandiya Drinking Water Scheme for Ward No. 3, 4, 5 of Khatima Municipality has been completed and drinking water has been made smooth. The District Magistrate said that tenders for 17 disaster reduction works worth Rs 3 crore have been made in the district and 51 flood disaster reduction works have been identified. The District Magistrate said that there were 65 cases of forest fire in the district which were soon controlled.

Municipal Commissioner Kashipur, Vivek Rai said that there is no problem of water in Municipal Corporation Kashipur, 347 hand pumps are working smoothly. He said that to provide pure and cool drinking water to the public, water coolers have been installed in Municipal Corporation, Chhatri Square, Gas Godown, Chauti Mor, Tanda Tiraha, while water coolers will soon be installed in roadways. Sub-District Magistrate Bajpur said that there is no problem of drinking water in Bajpur area.

SSP Manjunath TC, Project Director Ajay Singh, Superintending Engineer Drinking Water Corporation Mridula Singh, Executive Engineer Water Institute Tarun Sharma and other officers were present in the meeting.
