The doors of Bhu-Baikuntha Badrinath Dham opened, thousands of devotees witnessed the auspicious occasion, CM Dhami extended best wishes to the devotees
The doors of the world famous Lord Shri Badrinath Temple have opened for the devotees on 12th May at the auspicious time at 6:00 am with full rituals and Vedic chanting. Thousands of devotees witnessed this sacred moment. On the occasion of opening of Badrinath Kapat, special puja was performed on the first day. Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami has congratulated all the devotees on the auspicious occasion of opening of doors.
The process of opening the doors of Badrinath Dham started at 4 am on Brahma Bela. Amidst light rain, the melodious tunes of Army Band and Dhol Nagado and the praise of Lord Badri Vishal along with traditional music and dance of local women enthralled the devotees. With the discharge of religious traditions, Kuber ji, Shri Uddhav ji and Gadu Ghada were brought into the temple premises from the south gate. After this, the doors of the temple were opened with rituals by the chief priest of the temple including Rawal, Dharmadhikari, Haq Haqukdhari and officials of Shri Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee in the presence of the administration and thousands of devotees. Chief priest VC Ishwar Prasad Namboodiri performed special puja of Lord Badrinath in the sanctum sanctorum and wished good luck to everyone. With this, the darshan of Badrinath has started for the summer season. On the very first day, thousands of devotees attained the virtue of seeing Akhand Jyoti and Lord Shri Badrinath in Badrinath. On the occasion of the inauguration, Badrinath temple was decorated with 15 quintals of flowers.
A crowd of devotees had started gathering at Badrinath Dham a day before the doors opened. With the opening of the doors of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham, the Chardham Yatra has completely started in Uttarakhand.
On the occasion of opening of the doors, Chairman of Shri Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee Ajendra Ajay, District Magistrate Himanshu Khurana, Superintendent of Police Sarvesh Kumar, CDO Abhinav Shah, BKTC Chief Executive Officer Yogendra Singh, Vice President Kishore Panwar, Dharmadhikari Radha Krishna Thapliyal, SDM Chandrashekhar Bashistha, EO. Sunil Purohit and other officials, members of the temple committee, rights holders and a large number of devotees were present.
Crowds of devotees started gathering at other pilgrimage sites in Bhu-Baikunth Dham
With the opening of the doors of Badrinath Temple, Taptakund, Narad Kund, Sheshnetra Lake, Neelkanth Peak, Urvashi Temple, Brahma Kapal, Mata Murti Temple and the country’s first village Mana, Bhimpul, Vasudhara Falls and other historical and philosophical places around Bhu Vaikuntha Dham. Crowds of devotees and tourists have started gathering at the places also.
So many pilgrims reached Badrinath Dham in the last eight years
Lakhs of devotees have visited Badrinath in the past years. If we look at the previous figures, 654355 devotees reached Badrinath in the year 2016, 920466 in the year 2017, 1048051 in the year 2018, 1244993 in the year 2019 and 155055 in the year 2020. In the year 2021, due to Corona crisis, only 197997 devotees reached Badrinath. Whereas after controlling the Corona epidemic, a record 1763549 devotees reached Badrinath Dham in the last year 2022 and 1839591 devotees in 2023. This time, a large number of devotees have started reaching Badrinath with record registration in the beginning itself.
