Maharshtra: Death toll due to falling of hoardings reaches 14, treatment of 43 continues in hospital

14 people have died and 43 are injured after a 100 feet tall hoarding collapsed in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, who are undergoing treatment in the hospital. Whereas 31 people have been discharged from the hospital. The condition of one is said to be serious.

After the accident in Ghatkopar, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has canceled the election rally to be held in Muland area of Mumbai. He wrote on the social media platform that a high-level inquiry has been ordered into this incident.

Case against railway and advertising company
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has registered a case against Railways and advertising company Ego Media regarding this accident. BMC says that a case will be registered against the Railways and the advertising company under the Disaster Management Act. The same Central Railway official told in the media report that the land on which the hoarding was put up does not belong to the Central Railway but to the Government Railway Police.

Possibility of strong storm and lightning
At the same time, the Indian Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of lightning and storm along with heavy rain in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar. The Meteorological Department says that along with the storm, lightning may also occur at many places. During this period, a strong dust storm can also occur at a speed of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour.
