Arunachal Pradesh: 10 to 15 year old girls were being forced into prostitution, 21 including government officials arrested

A shameful case has come to light from the north-eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. According to reports, government officials are also among the 11 clients arrested in this case of prostitution of small girls in the state. Arunachal Pradesh Police has arrested 21 people, including government officials, involved in an inter-state prostitution ring in the last few days. A senior police officer said on Wednesday that in this case, the state police has freed 5 minor girls aged between 10 to 15 years.

Police raided and saved the girls

Giving information about the incident, the police officer said that the government officials arrested include a Deputy Superintendent of Police and a Deputy Director of Health Services. Itanagar Superintendent of Police (SP) Rohit Rajbir Singh said that two sisters who ran a beauty parlor in the capital were trafficking minor girls from Dhemaji in neighboring Assam to the state. He said that after receiving information that a prostitution ring involving minor girls was active in Chimpu near here, the police team raided the house of two sisters on May 4 and rescued two minor girls.

5 government officials were also arrested in the case

The SP said that the minor girls revealed that they were brought to Itanagar from Dhemaji by two sisters. After this, it came to light that two more minor girls who were trafficked from Dhemaji were in the clutches of a woman and were later freed. The police team also came to know that the accused had smuggled another minor girl, after which a raid was conducted at a hotel and the girl was rescued. The Superintendent of Police said that at least 10 people involved in the prostitution racket have been arrested, while 11 customers, including 5 government officials, have also been arrested.
