West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has suffered a major setback during the Lok Sabha elections. Calcutta High Court has ordered the cancellation of all OBC certificates issued after 2010. Now no person can do a job by showing that certificate. However, this order will not apply to those who have already been employed.
All OBC certificates issued after 2010 canceled
The bench of Justices Tapobrata Chakraborty and Rajshekhar Manthar of Calcutta High Court said that since 2011, the administration has been issuing OBC certificates without following any rules. Giving OBC certificate in this way is unconstitutional. These certificates were issued without following any advice of the Backward Classes Commission. Therefore all these certificates have been cancelled. This certificate will no longer be valid for availing employment benefits.
However, the court said that during this period, there will be no threat to the employment of those who get employment through the certificate issued and it will remain the same as before.
