Lok Sabha Elections 2024: 121 candidates declared themselves uneducated, only this many candidates have passed 12th, claims ADR report

The year of Lok Sabha elections 2024 is going on. Meanwhile, 121 candidates contesting the elections have declared themselves illiterate. Also 359 candidates have said that they have studied only till 5th class. This information has come to light on the basis of the report shared by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). 647 candidates contesting in the Lok Sabha elections 2024 informed that they have passed till 8th class. There are 1,303 candidates who are 12th pass. Also 1502 candidates have studied till graduation. There are 198 candidates who have done doctoral studies. ADR has analyzed the educational qualifications of 8,337 out of 8,360 candidates contesting the Lok Sabha elections.

How many candidates are educated, how many are illiterate?

In the first phase of elections, 639 candidates declared their educational qualification to be between 5th and 12th class, while 836 candidates have studied at graduation level or above. Additionally, 36 candidates declared themselves only literate, 26 illiterate and four did not disclose their educational qualifications. During the second phase, 533 candidates declared their education level to be between 5th and 12th class, while 574 candidates reported having a graduate or higher education. Whereas 37 candidates declared themselves only literate, eight declared themselves illiterate and three did not declare their educational qualification.

How many candidates are illiterate in which stages?

Let us inform that in the third phase, 639 candidates declared their educational qualification to be between 5th and 12th class, while 591 candidates declared themselves as graduate or higher educated. Additionally, only 56 are literate and 19 are illiterate. Three candidates did not disclose their educational qualifications. For the fourth phase, 644 candidates declared their education level between 5th and 12th class, while 944 declared graduation or higher. Thirty candidates declared themselves only literate and 26 declared themselves illiterate. In the fifth phase, 293 candidates reported their educational qualification as being between 5th and 12th class, while 349 reported themselves as having a graduation or higher degree. Around 20 candidates are only literate and five are illiterate.

Many candidates did not give information

Two candidates did not disclose their educational qualifications. In the sixth phase, 332 candidates declared their educational qualification as being between 5th and 12th class, while 487 declared graduation or higher education. 22 are diploma holders, 12 candidates are literate only and 13 are illiterate. In the seventh phase, 402 candidates reported their educational qualification as being between 5th and 12th class, while 430 declared themselves as graduates or higher educated. 20 are diploma holders, 26 candidates are literate and 24 are illiterate. Two candidates did not disclose their educational qualifications. The elections are being held in seven phases from April 19 to June 1. Counting of votes will take place on June 4. Five phases have been completed while the sixth and seventh phases are scheduled for May 25 and June 1 respectively.
