Rs 1100 crore cash and jewelery from across the country
If sources are to be believed, during the current Lok Sabha elections, the Income Tax Department has seized Rs 1100 crore cash and jewelery from different places across the country. This figure may increase further as the operation is still going on. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rs 390 crore cash and jewelery were seized. In this Lok Sabha elections, there has been an increase of 182 percent in the cases of seizure of illegal cash and jewelery.
Where are the most cases from?
According to sources, the maximum seizure cases have come from Delhi and Karnataka. Cash and jewellery worth more than Rs 200 crore has been seized in every state. Tamil Nadu is at the second spot, where Rs 150 crore has been seized. Then in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Odisha, collectively cash and jewellery worth more than Rs 100 crore have been seized.
Agencies on alert since voting began

Agencies have kept a close watch on the manipulation of cash, liquor, freebies, drugs, jewellery and other items. Every state has set up 24×7 control rooms to stop the illegal movement of cash.
