Prajwal Revanna arrested as soon as he landed at Bengaluru airport, will be produced in court after medical examination
Big news has come out in the Karnataka sex scandal case. SIT has arrested Prajwal Revanna. It is being told that as soon as he landed at Bengaluru airport, the police present there arrested Prajwal. Suspended JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, who was arrested in the pornographic video case at Bengaluru airport, has been taken for medical examination soon. From there he will be produced in the court and the SIT will seek custody of Revanna so that further investigation can be done. After landing at Kempegowda International Airport, Revanna was brought to the CID office in Bengaluru. A woman working in his house has accused Revanna of sexual abuse.
JD(S) MP from Hassan, Revanna, who is facing allegations of sexual abuse, had booked a return flight ticket from Munich to Bengaluru on May 30. The 33-year-old grandson of JDS chief HD Deve Gowda arrived in Bengaluru at 12:46 am on May 31 and was later arrested by the SIT.
Midnight arrest
JD-S MP Prajwal Revanna was to check out between 12.45 am and 1 am. Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said that he had received information about Prajwal Revanna returning to Bengaluru. An arrest warrant had been issued against him. Prajwal Revanna was arrested at the airport itself. Prajwal was arrested at around 1.15 am.
Revanna returned to India from Berlin, Germany, about a month after leaving the country on a diplomatic passport and was immediately taken into custody. The Karnataka government’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) detained Revanna on his arrival at the Bengaluru airport. Revanna will be produced in court later today in the alleged pornographic video case.
An SIT officer Security beefed up at the CID office
The SIT team seized his two check-in bags and took them away in a separate car. Security was beefed up outside the CID office in Bengaluru and barricades were put up outside the office ahead of Revanna’s arrival. Prajwal Revanna said in a video released on May 27 that he would appear before the SIT on May 31 for questioning.
Anticipatory bail plea is pending
The anticipatory bail plea filed by Revanna on May 29 is still pending in the court. Revanna’s anticipatory bail plea was filed hours after the SIT arrested two other key accused in the case. The arrested persons have been identified as Naveen Gowda and Chetan, police said on Wednesday.
Two other accused also arrested in the case
According to police sources, the accused were arrested when they appeared in the High Court for anticipatory bail. The arrested Chetan Gowda and Naveen Gowda allegedly distributed pen drives containing videos of Prajwal Revanna sexually assaulting women. Meanwhile, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Thursday that a show cause notice was issued against Revanna on May 23 and action was initiated to cancel his diplomatic passport.
Left the country on April 26
The JD-S MP, who was accused of sexual harassment, left the country on April 26, the day of polling in Karnataka. He has returned to India after a lot of pressure. Prajwal’s grandfather HD Deve Gowda had warned him. Apart from this, preparations were underway to cancel Prajwal’s passport, meanwhile Prajwal’s video surfaced, in which he called himself innocent and talked about surrendering.
Heavy force deployed
Police said that before Prajwal’s arrest, security was tightened in the premises of Bengaluru airport and surrounding areas to avoid any untoward incident. SIT officials also held a meeting with Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayanand regarding the security arrangements.
