Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Anto Antony wins again in Pattanantitta …

Anto Antony of Congress won by 219604 votes. Thomas Isaac of CPM is in second place and Anil K Antoy is in third place. The final Lok Sabha election result of Pathanamthitta constituency of Kerala is yet to come.

Born on 1 May 1957, Anto Antony Punnathaniyil is a senior Congress leader. He has been a member of the 15th and 16th Lok Sabha from Pathanamthitta constituency of Kerala as a member of the Indian National Congress.

He was born in Moonilavu, Kerala to Kuruvilla Antony and Chinnamma Antony. He received his education at St. Thomas College, Pala, followed by Kerala Law Academy Law College, Thiruvananthapuram, Government Law College, Ernakulam and Rajagiri College of Social Sciences.

His political career began with his participation in the Kerala Students Union. His leadership skills were recognized from the very beginning, due to which he was appointed the General Secretary of the Union.

In 2009, he achieved a significant breakthrough when he was elected as the United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate from the newly allotted Pathanamthitta district. He won the election by a big margin, securing 408,232 votes over K. Ananthagopan of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), who got 297,026 votes. His victory in the 2009 elections marked the beginning of his tenure as a Member of Parliament. He was re-elected from the same constituency in the 2014 general elections by a margin of 58,836 against his LDF-backed opponent, independent candidate Mr. Peelipose Thomas. He once again retained his seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections
