NDA is in a mess in UP, riding the ‘cycle’ helped the ‘hand’ to sail through

Counting of votes is going on in 542 out of 543 seats of Lok Sabha elections. In the trends so far, there is a close contest between NDA and India Block. Uttar Pradesh has surprised this time. According to the Election Commission, till 1 pm, India Block is leading in 40 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, BJP is ahead in 33 seats.
This time in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party and Congress fought the election together against BJP. In the trends so far, Samajwadi Party is leading in 33 seats and Congress in 7 seats.
Many big leaders of BJP are trailing in UP. Smriti Irani is trailing by about 60 thousand votes from Amethi. Sakshi Maharaj from Unnao, Sanjeev Baliyan from Muzaffarnagar and Ajay Mishra Teni from Kheri seat are also trailing.
If we look at the trends so far, this time BJP seems to be getting a big shock in UP. Last time NDA had won more than 60 seats, but this time it seems to be getting less than 40 seats. In such a situation, the question arises that how did this happen?
UP boys’ wonder!
After 7 years, Samajwadi Party and Congress contested the elections together in Uttar Pradesh. Both the parties came together in 2017, but then this alliance could not do anything special. When SP and Congress contested the 2017 assembly elections together, they could not even win 60 seats. At that time, the pair of Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi started being called ‘UP ke ladke’.
These two boys of UP came together again in 2024 after seven years. The alliance was reached between the two with great difficulty. Finally, both the boys of UP came against BJP and contested the elections together. Fighting the elections together is proving to be beneficial for both SP and Congress.
How did this happen?
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Akhilesh’s SP and Mayawati’s BSP contested the elections together. BSP benefited from this alliance. Because it had won 10 seats. Whereas, SP could win only five seats. In that election, Congress had contested alone and could win only Raebareli seat.
But this time the alliance of SP and Congress seems to be winning half the seats in UP. It is believed that the support of Samajwadi Party proved to be a profitable deal for Congress.
Even in the last election, when Mayawati had won 10 seats from SP-BSP alliance, then political analysts considered SP to be the biggest factor behind this lead of BSP. That is because Akhilesh Yadav is successful in transferring his vote to the allied parties.
The factor that did wonders?
Many big factors worked behind the big victory of SP-Congress alliance in this election. For example, Akhilesh gave the slogan of PDA, which proved to be effective. PDA means victims, Dalits and minorities. Through this slogan, he tried to unite the votes of victims, Dalits and minorities. SP banners installed at various places had written – ‘PDA is India’.
Similarly, Rahul Gandhi also succeeded in bringing Dalits, tribals and minorities together by giving the slogan of ‘Jitni Aabadi, Utna Haq’.
When ‘UP’s both boys’ were seen together in Agra after the alliance, Rahul Gandhi had said that the population of backward, Dalits and minorities is 88 percent, but these people will not be seen in the top management of big companies. These people will be found in the list of MNREGA and contract labour, this is what we have to change and this is the meaning of social justice.
Apart from this, Rahul Gandhi had also promised a legal guarantee of MSP if the India Block government is formed. Farmers had a long agitation regarding the guarantee of MSP. It is believed that this promise of Congress was also beneficial.
What proved to be heavy on BJP?
There were many factors, which proved to be heavy on BJP in UP. In this election, Agniveer Yojana and paper leak also became big issues, due to which BJP had to bear the loss.
BJP suffered a big loss due to Akhilesh and Rahul coming together. The duo became a hit in UP. Both of them together raised issues of reservation, employment, paper leak, Agniveer Yojana and Constitution in UP.
Apart from this, BJP also had to suffer the loss of anti-incumbency wave. Questions are also being raised that BJP did not select the right candidates. That is because many big leaders of BJP are lagging behind from UP.
