8 trekkers killed on Sahastratal trek in Uttarakhand, Air Force rescue operation continues, 10 airlift

8 members of a trekking team with twenty -two members who went on trekking of Sahastratal have been reported to have died due to bad weather. The rest of the members were reported to be trapped in this high Himalayan trek route. The administration has sent the team today to remove the trapped trekkers as soon as the incident was reported. The Air Force also participated in the rescue operation. At present, 8 people have died. Another trekker’s death is being feared. 10 trekkers have been airlifted. 3 locals are trapped there.
Air Force started search and rescue campaign
The District Magistrate had also requested to conduct a heli rescue campaign through the Air Force to remove the trackers and the dead bodies of the dead. The Air Force today started a rescue operation to search for missing trekkers. On the request of the district administration, two Chetak helicopter of the Air Force were installed in the campaign. Along with this, the District Magistrate has also informed the state secretary disaster management Ranjit Sinha and other high officials regarding this incident.
SDRF 02 teams of Uttarakhand Police leave
A 22-member trekking team on the Malla-Silla-Kushkalya-Sahastratal Trek by Himalayan View Trekking Agency, Maneri, included 18 members of Karnataka and a member of Maharashtra and three local guides were sent to Sahastratal’s trekking operation on 29 May. I went. This trekking team was to return by June 7. Meanwhile, during the arrival of Sahastratal from the final camp on Tuesday, this team lost the way due to bad weather. The concerned trekking agency informed about the incident of 13 members being trapped in the trek, informing about the death of four members of this party after investigating. On the information of the said incident, on 05 June 2024 in the morning, the 02 High Altitude Rescue Teams of SDRF were sent for rescue as per the instructions of SDR Manikant Mishra in the morning. After briefing by Manikant Mishra, a 03 -member team from Sahastradhara Helipad, Dehradun was sent to the rescue through Haley and a team has been kept in the backup of the necessary equipment. On the other hand, the sad news of the death of four more trekkers came on Wednesday morning. In this way 8 members of the trekking team are reported to have died. Another trekker is also feared to be killed.
Rescue teams left from different directions
DM Dr. Meharban Singh Bisht, DM of Uttarkashi district, has told that the rescue teams of SDRF and Forest Department have left for the scene from different directions to rescue trekkers trapped on the trekking route of Sahastratal. Reiki and rescue teams of ten members of the forest department have overtaken the village. A team of SDF from District Headquarters Uttarkashi has also left for the rescue action on the early hours of Wednesday, 5 June, to start the process of rescue.
Ariel Reiki by helicopter
Superintendent of Police Arpan Yaduvanshi, who is engaged in coordination with this rescue campaign, said that the SDRF mountaineering team is also going to leave a helicopter from Dehradun to Ariel Reiki. District Hospital Uttarkashi and Primary Health Center Bhatwadi have been placed on alert mode. 14 rescumers and a doctor team have also left from ITBP Matli. Back up team is also being sent from NIM. According to the information received, the Air Force’s Haley Search and Rescue Team may leave soon to join the campaign.
The disaster control room of the district has been continuously active since Tuesday evening regarding the rescue campaign. According to the information received by the control room, Ardangi helipad has also been placed on alert mode by Tehri district administration for heli rescue. The ambulance team, Lonivi and police teams have been deployed here. Teams of forest department, SDRF, police and local people are also being dispatched from Tehri district to search for search. This team will leave on foot from Piswad in Ghansali.

Bhagwat Semwal of the trekker agency said that a long journey of 45 km from Sora village in Bhatwadi block has to be on foot to reach Sahastratal at an altitude of about 14.5,000 feet. For this reason, members of this trekker team must have wandered the way.
10 trekkers rescue
10 trackers stranded in Sahastratal have been rescued. These include Soumya wife Vivek age 37, Vinay son Krishnamurthy age 47, Shiv Jyoti, Sudhakar son BS Naidu age 64, Sumriti Wife of Guru Raj age 40 years, Cena age 48 years. All people are residents of Karnataka.
