Uttarakhand: Officers should work with utmost sensitivity and humanity for the improvement, reconstruction and rehabilitation of slums – Chief Secretary

Chief Secretary Mrs. Radha Raturi has directed the District Magistrates to send the listed report to the government within a week after identifying the slums located in the municipal bodies, so that work on the action plan for their development, restoration and rehabilitation can be started as soon as possible. CS Mrs. Radha Raturi has directed the officers to work on an effective action plan with utmost sensitivity and humanity for the improvement, regulation, restoration, rehabilitation and resettlement of slums in the state. She has directed to organize a meeting of the Urban Development Department and Housing Department in this regard. While chairing the meeting of the State Level Monitoring Committee in the Secretariat, Chief Secretary Mrs. Radha Raturi has also directed the Urban Development Department to make an action plan for the arrangement of adequate housing and insurance for the sanitation workers. CS has also directed the creation of a corpus fund for slums through the Authority.

It was informed in the meeting that under various categories of Government Notification No. 2154 dated 21 December 2016, 04 slums of category one and 02 slums of category two have been identified in Bageshwar district, 57 slums of category one, 02 of category two, 24 of category three in Haridwar, 37 slums of category one in Nainital, 01 of category two, 23 of category three, 04 of category one in Almora, a total of 128 slums have been identified in Dehradun.

Principal Secretary Shri Ramesh Kumar Sudhanshu along with other officers and all District Magistrates were present in the meeting through virtual medium.
