Uttarakhand: Efforts intensified for Sports University, Sports Minister held a meeting with officials, discussed land transfer problem

As per the announcements of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the International Cricket Stadium established in Gaulapar, Haldwani is to be developed as a sports university. For which 35 acres of additional land is needed. The Sports Department had identified 35 acres of land near the stadium, but, this land comes under compensatory afforestation. Due to which there is a problem in making land available for the sports university. For this, departmental minister Rekha Arya held a meeting with the officials of the Sports Department and Forest Department on Friday.

During the meeting, departmental minister Rekha Arya instructed the officials that if compensatory afforestation land is not available here, then look for land at some other place. Along with this, the minister instructed the officials that as an alternative arrangement, if 100 acres of land is available somewhere in Udham Singh Nagar or Nainital district, then talk to the District Magistrate of Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital district and ask for a land availability report. If 100 acres of land is found somewhere in these districts, then work towards building a sports university there.

Meanwhile, Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that the government is trying to get the ground breaking ceremony of the sports university done through the programs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi before the 38th National Games and start its construction work. Instructions have been given to the officials to work at a fast pace in this direction. She said that it is a matter of great happiness that the first sports university is going to be built in the state. She said that the youth of the state will benefit from this. After the sports university is built, many types of sports activities will be conducted in this university.
