When will the monsoon hit Uttarakhand? A control room will be set up for the rainy season

Waterlogging is a big problem in Doon. Every time during the rainy season, a few minutes of rain turns Doon into a pond. Whereas, every time the Municipal Corporation and the administration claim to have made strong arrangements.
The monsoon is expected to arrive in the state around June 25. Also, this time the rainfall is also expected to be more than normal in the monsoon season. In such a situation, there is a possibility of the city being flooded with water again. However, Smart City and other departments are claiming to strengthen the drainage system by constructing drains. At the same time, looking at the ground condition of the rivers and drains of Doon, there is little hope of getting rid of waterlogging.
There are more than 40 big rivers and drains in the Dehradun Municipal Corporation area, which remain in spate during the rainy season. Due to lack of adequate drainage, rainwater enters the nearby settlements and colonies. Apart from this, cases of collapse of bridges, falling walls of houses and waterlogging in houses and shops are reported in large numbers. Many times disaster-like situations also arise during the rainy season. Not only this, the main markets and roads of Doon also remain waterlogged during the rains. It becomes difficult to walk on the roads, let alone move by vehicles.
Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar said that the Municipal Corporation is cleaning all the major rivers and drains of the city. Efforts will be made to complete the cleaning work before the monsoon. Apart from this, the drains and small sewers of the city are also being cleaned. A disaster control room will also be set up in the Municipal Corporation this month. Such rivers and drains are being identified and cleaned on priority, where the problem of waterlogging is more.
180 places of waterlogging have been identified in the city
Last year, the Municipal Corporation had identified 180 places sensitive to waterlogging in the city. It is being claimed that 10 quick action teams will be formed in case of waterlogging at these places. Each team will have a pump and other equipment available. Separate teams of 10 employees each will be formed to deal with the emergency situation in all 100 wards.
Control room will be built for rainy season
A control room will be built in the Municipal Corporation for quick action on waterlogging and other problems during rainy season. The control room is expected to be started before the arrival of monsoon. As soon as the information is received here, it will be forwarded to the supervisor of the concerned area and immediate action will be taken.
