Will BJP get a new president as soon as JP Nadda becomes a minister? There is a buzz of change in the party leadership

After the victory of NDA in the 18th Lok Sabha elections, BJP leader Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister for the third consecutive time. On Sunday, President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of the Prime Minister’s post. Along with PM Modi, 30 cabinet ministers, 5 leaders took the oath of office and secrecy of Minister of State (Independent Charge) and 36 leaders took the oath of office and secrecy of Minister of State. In the third term of the Modi government, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda has also taken oath as a cabinet minister. With the name of JP Nadda appearing in the list of ministers, there was also a discussion about whether there will be a change in the top leadership of the BJP organization i.e. the post of president?
BJP’s ‘one person, one post’ policy
In January 2020, JP Nadda took over as the party president in place of Amit Shah. Nadda’s extended tenure as BJP president is to end this month. According to BJP’s ‘one person, one post’ policy, the party will soon get a new president. In such a situation, who will become the president of BJP in place of JP Nadda? A round of speculation has started on this.
BJP missed the magical figure of 272 under Nadda’s leadership
Let us tell you that when Amit Shah was the President of BJP, the party won both the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections by a huge margin. BJP fought the 2024 Lok Sabha elections under the leadership of JP Nadda. This time BJP contested on 441 seats and won 240 seats. BJP missed the magic figure of 272 to form the government at the Center. BJP has had to form the government at the Center for the third time with the help of NDA constituents i.e. parties like TDP and JDU.
JP Nadda has been the Health Minister in the Modi government
JP Nadda was made the Health Minister in PM Modi’s first cabinet from 2014 to 2019. In 2020, he took over as the President of BJP in place of Union Home Minister and party’s chief strategist Amit Shah. Even before his term as party president ended in September 2022, Nadda was given an extension till the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
