Be careful about the weather! Heat wave will continue to trouble for the next 5 days, severe heat alert in 9 states including Delhi-UP

Many states of North India including Delhi are facing this scorching heat and at present there is no relief from the heat. The Meteorological Department has issued a severe heat alert for the next 5 days. The maximum temperature in Delhi will remain above 45 degrees. There is no hope of any relief from the heat in UP adjoining Delhi. There will be a heatwave in UP for 5 days as well. Apart from this, many states are also facing the wrath of weather.

According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), no significant change in maximum temperature is expected in most parts of India. Heat wave conditions will prevail in many northern and central Indian states including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi and parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand from June 14 to 18. Residents of these areas have been advised to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related health problems.

Along with this, the southwest monsoon is also advancing. Favorable conditions indicate that the monsoon will advance towards some areas of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, northwestern Bay of Bengal, Gangetic West Bengal, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Bihar within the next 4-5 days. This progress will bring great relief from the heat and will also provide relief to agricultural activities dependent on monsoon rains.

Delhi will get relief from light showers today!

Talking about Delhi, it is likely to be partly cloudy here today and there are chances of thunderstorms or lightning along with drizzle. Apart from this, heat wave conditions can also occur with strong surface winds at times. However, there is no sign of relief in the temperature. The maximum temperature in Delhi today can go up to 44 degrees and the minimum temperature was 30 degrees Celsius. But strong winds can give some relief to Delhiites for a while.

Heavy rain likely in these areas

Weather systems, including a cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam and an east-west trough, are contributing to widespread light to moderate rainfall with intense rain and thunderstorms over northeast India and the sub-Himalayan region. Due to this, heavy to very heavy rains are expected over parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal and northeastern states over the next five days. This continuous rain is expected to reduce drought-like conditions, but may also increase the risk of floods and landslides.

Apart from this, widespread rains are expected along with strong winds over the west coast of India and across South India. Meanwhile, areas like Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh may receive sporadic rains with thunderstorms over the next five days.
