Bengal rail accident: Anil Kumar of Bihar was the loco pilot of the goods train, died in the collision of trains

Bengal Rail Accident: A freight train hit the Kanchenjunga Express from behind at around 8:45 am on Monday near Rangapani station, about 30 km from Newsalpaiguri station in West Bengal. More than half a dozen people have been confirmed dead in this rail accident while more than three dozen people are injured. A loco pilot from Bakhtiyarpur in Bihar also died in this rail accident. There is an uproar among the family members of the deceased.

Loco pilot from Bakhtiyarpur dies in rail accident

Anil Kumar (42 years), son of loco pilot Siyasharan Prasad, resident of Bakhtiyarpur bypass, died in the accident of Kanchenjunga Express. After receiving the news of Anil Kumar’s death, the family members are inconsolable. According to the villagers, Anil lived in Jalpaiguri with his wife and two children. He was the second among five siblings.

Information was being given from the helpdesk

A help desk was set up by the railways to give information to the passengers about the accident-hit Kanchenjunga train at Kishanganj railway station. At the help desk, the relatives of the passengers were being given information about the passengers as well as the diverted routes of many trains. Citi in-charge Vivek Kumar Gupta was continuously giving information on the phone and to the relatives who had reached there.

12 passengers from Kishanganj were travelling, all are safe

According to the reservation list, 12 passengers were travelling to Kishanganj in the Kanchenjunga Express. Dipankar Das (42 years) was travelling from Guwahati to Kishanganj, Deep Kesari (30 years) from Guwahati to Kishanganj, Puja Kesari (28 years) from Guwahati to Kishanganj, Dipendu Bhowmick (33 years) from Agartala to Kishanganj, Prasanjit Dev (47 years) from Guwahati to Kishanganj, Madhabi Dev (75 years) from Guwahati to Kishanganj, Dilip Chauhan (45 years) from Dharmanagar to Kishanganj, Subir Seal (60 years) from Dharmanagar to Kishanganj, Prashanta Das (39 years) from Agartala to Kishanganj.

Nine people including two loco pilots of goods train and one guard of Kanchenjunga died

The death of nine people in a major train accident between Nijbari and Rangapani railway stations in Darjeeling district of West Bengal has been confirmed by Additional Divisional Railway Manager of Katihar Railway Division Manoj Kumar Singh. He said that a goods train hit the Kanchenjunga Express standing between Rangapani and Nijwari stations, 11 km before New Jalpaiguri station of Katihar Railway Division. Both the loco pilots of the goods train and the guard of Kanchenjunga died in this accident. Nine people including the guard of Kanchenjunga Express, loco pilot of goods train Anil Kumar, assistant loco pilot Monu Kumar and guard of Kanchenjunga Ashish Day have died. The other deceased are being identified.
