Uttarakhand: Police department will buy eight high-tech bikes to control speed, will be deployed in four districts

The police department is now going to buy high-tech interceptor motorcycles to crack down on speeding drivers on the roads. In this sequence, Rs 1.68 crore has been sanctioned for eight motorcycles from the Road Safety Fund for the purchase of Harley Davidson or BMW motor bikes at the rate of Rs 21 lakh per motorcycle. These will be started from four plain districts Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital.

It was told that at present there are many high-speed vehicles in the market, which cannot be chased by normal motorcycles. For this reason, the police will now buy high-tech and high-speed motorcycles. These motorcycles will be converted into two-wheeler interceptors.

A high-speed detection camera will be installed on the front part of the motorcycle. Another box will be installed on the left side of the motorcycle seat, in which printer and other equipment will be kept, so that challans can also be issued on the spot.

Initially eight interceptors are being prepared. Initially two interceptors will be given to each district. If this experiment is successful, their number will be increased and they will be deployed in other districts as well.

In the meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, it was also told that this proposal was also passed in the year 2022, but due to certain reasons the purchase could not be made. Now after getting approval from the Road Safety Fund, the police is moving forward in this direction.
