Uttarakhand / Dehradun: Tree falls on a moving car, traffic disrupted
Half an hour of torrential rain has become a disaster in many places in Uttarakhand. A tree fell on a moving Scorpio car in front of PNB Bank in Nayagaon Pelion, Dehradun. Due to which the traffic on the road has been disrupted. The driver sitting inside the car is said to be safe.
NH closed in Champawat
On the other hand, Ghat Panar NH was closed at many places due to torrential rain in Champawat. Due to which many vehicles and passengers got stuck on both sides of the NH. The rain was so heavy that a large amount of debris came on the road from the hill along with the rain water. Apart from this, the Tanakpur Pithoragarh NH was closed due to debris near Madan Hotel in Singda. Due to which many vehicles got stuck.
Instructions given to officials to open NH
SDM Lohaghat Rinku Bisht took cognizance of the matter and instructed the NH officials to open the NH. After which the work of opening the NH has been started. SDM Rinku Bisht said that soon the NH will be made operational for traffic. At the same time, people breathed a sigh of relief due to the rain after a long time. Rivers and streams overflowed due to just half an hour of torrential rain.
The weather department had issued an alert
The weather department director Vikram Singh had predicted heavy rains with thunderstorms in Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital districts on Wednesday. Whereas, there was a possibility of rains with thunderstorms and gusty winds blowing at a speed of 40-50 kmph in Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts. Along with this, a warning of heavy rains with thunderstorms was issued.
