Maharashtra: The BJP candidate who lost the election from here demanded EVM microcontroller verification

BJP candidate Sujay Vikhe Patil, who lost the election from Ahmednagar Lok Sabha seat in the Lok Sabha elections, has demanded verification of EVM microcontroller from the district collector. Ahmednagar collector has forwarded Sujay’s complaint to the chief electoral officer of Maharashtra. Sujay Vikhe has demanded verification of a total of 40 EVMs. NCP candidate Nilesh Lanke has won from Ahmednagar. In this election, Sujay Vikhe Patil got 5,95,868 votes while Nilesh Lanke got 6,24,797 votes.

Candidate coming second or third can make this demand

According to an order given by the Supreme Court, the candidate coming second or third in the election can demand investigation of EVM microcontroller. The candidate who has filed a petition for verification has to tell which polling station’s EVM he wants to investigate. What is the serial number of that EVM.

EVM tampering will be investigated

According to the information received, within 7 days of the election results, the candidate can demand verification of the EVM microcontroller. For this, he also has to pay a fee. Engineers of the firm that manufactures EVMs do this investigation. During the investigation, an attempt is made to find out whether the EVM has been tempered or some changes have been made to it. All candidates can be present during this investigation process. At present, their complaint has been sent to the State Election Commission.

Appeal not to administer oath to Shiv Sena MP who won the election by 48 votes

On the other hand, a candidate from Mumbai North-West seat has appealed to the Lok Sabha Secretary General not to administer oath as MP to Shiv Sena’s Ravindra Waikar, who won the election by 48 votes from Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray UBT) opponent. Bharat Shah of Hindu Samaj Party has written a letter to the Lok Sabha Secretary General on June 19 in which he alleged that serious irregularities were committed during the counting of votes on June 4. The letter claimed, “The polling and counting of votes in the Mumbai North-West constituency was not free and fair as per the Representation of the People Act, 1950, nor was it in accordance with the Model Code of Conduct.
