Uttarakhand: Water conservation and enhancement should be taken as a water movement – CM Dhami, Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan held a meeting of officials

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed that water conservation and enhancement should be taken as a water movement. In line with the instructions of the Chief Minister, Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, while taking a meeting in the Secretariat on Friday, directed the officials to use modern and effective technology for water conservation. He said that publicity should be done through various means for water conservation and storage and public cooperation should also be taken for this.
The Additional Chief Secretary said that contour trenches, recharge pits, chaal-khal and check dams should be built by municipal bodies, authorities, Panchayati Raj and Forest Department with public participation. The cooperation of Mahila Mangal Dals, Yuvak Mangal Dals and those working in the field of water conservation should be taken in this. Workshops should also be organized at the state and district level for water conservation and enhancement. Special attention should be given towards rainwater harvesting. To increase the water level of the land in urban areas, the rooftop water of government buildings should be transported to the ground through popular means.
The Additional Chief Secretary directed the officers to create awareness among the people to prevent misuse of water along with rainwater harvesting. He said that in case of damage to the drinking water line during the rainy season, they should be repaired immediately. Special attention should be given to the construction of Chal-Khal and Amrit Sarovar and new check dams for water conservation in the districts. For this, all the departments should work in coordination.
Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, Vice President MDDA Banshidhar Tiwari, Additional Secretary Nitin Bhadauria, Additional Chief Executive Spring and River Rejuvenation Authority’s Additional Chief Executive Officer Neena Grewal and concerned officers were present in the meeting.
