Uttarakhand: All 42 madrasas in Dehradun will be investigated, Education Department has given orders
The recognition of all 42 madrasas operating in the district and the operation of NCERT courses will be investigated and its report will be given to the Education Department. On May 27, a meeting of all madrasa operators was held under the chairmanship of Chief Education Officer Dehradun (CEO) Pradeep Rawat, in which preliminary information was taken about their recognition.
It came to light in the meeting that NCERT books are being taught at high school and intermediate level in some madrasas. Whereas six madrasas are being run without recognition. 21 madrasas are recognized by the Madrasa Board, while 15 have received recognition from the Education Department.
U-Dias code also allotted
In this meeting held regarding mapping of madrasas, the founders of madrasas had told the CEO that the students studying in madrasas recognized by the Madrasa Board are taught religious education as well as the curriculum prescribed by the Education Department through NCERT books. They have also been allotted U-Dias codes.
It was told that there are 12 madrasas operating in the district, in which mid-day meal scheme is also being run under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. Free books are also being provided to these madrasas. The operators of madrasas recognized by the Education Department informed that instead of Sanskrit, Urdu and Arabic are also taught to the children. The rest of the curriculum is taught by NCERT.
During the talks, it also came to light that only one madrasa is being run in Dehradun district up to high school and intermediate level. In which all the curriculum is being taught by NCERT. This madrasa is recognized by the Madrasa Board. It was also informed in the meeting that not a single non-Muslim student is studying in madrasas.
A report will be prepared after physical verification of madrasas: CEO
CEO Dehradun Pradeep Rawat said that the departmental team will prepare a record of the recognition of all madrasas, the system of teaching in them, which board’s books are being taught and who is taking advantage of government schemes. Besides, a report will be made to check whether any non-Muslim students are studying here or not and in the meeting, the information given by the operators of the madrasas and the physical verification done on the spot will be matched.
