Uttarakhand: A padyatra was taken out to save the greenery of Doon

CM Dhami has banned the cutting of green trees of Cantt Road and Khalanga. Despite this, environmentalists expressed concern about the trees being cut in Doon and today took out a padyatra from Dilaram Chowk to Centrio Mala. Today, the padyatra was taken out with the resolution of how to stop the green trees in Doon from falling prey to development.
Hundreds of people participated in the padyatra
Environmentalists had called upon the people to join the padyatra. Its effect was also seen in the padyatra today. Hundreds of people participated in the padyatra. The people who participated in the padyatra expressed their opposition to the cutting of trees and said that the temperature is continuously increasing due to the cutting of trees in Dehradun. The water level is also gradually decreasing and the rivers are also drying up.
There was heavy opposition to cutting trees
Let us tell you that due to road widening from Dilaram Chowk to the Chief Minister’s residence, a proposal was prepared to cut several hundred trees. Marks have also been put on the trees which are to be cut. Which was strongly opposed by the people. After which CM Dhami’s statement came out regarding tree cutting and he said that road widening is necessary but unnecessary trees will not be cut.
Government should change the development model
Environmentalist Ravi Chopra asked the government to change the development model. He said that the people of Dehradun will no longer tolerate the many plans of the government to cut trees and forests. We are not ready to bear the temperature that we have faced this year.
We know that the temperature can go up to 45, 47 and 50 degrees in the future, not 43. We are not ready to bear the loss of life and property in this. Therefore, the government should immediately change its development model.
Today people have come out on the streets, this is their concern and their anger
Anoop Nautiyal, founder of SDC Foundation, says that the question is not only about this episode. The anger and disappointment of the people has come out on the streets of Dehradun today. Any government should definitely think about it.
It has been 24 years since Uttarakhand was formed, never before has such a flood of people been seen. But the way thousands of people have come out on the streets today is their concern and their anger. The government should think about it because it is a matter of Uttarakhand’s existence.
