Uttarakhand: Magisterial investigation of Rudraprayag accident completed, this was the reason why 15 passengers died, Transport Department suspended four employees

The magisterial inquiry into the Rudraprayag accident has been completed. Sub-district magistrate Ashish Chandra Ghildiyal has submitted the report to District Magistrate Saurabh Gaharwar. The investigating officer had recorded the statements of the injured as well as eyewitnesses and rescue people in his report.

After the tragic accident on the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway on June 15, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had ordered an inquiry. After which the 10-member investigation team has conducted its investigation on the basis of the permit, insurance, online booking of the accident vehicle as well as the driver’s experience of driving the vehicle in the mountains along with all other aspects. The investigating team had inspected from the spot to the river.
The accident happened due to the driver dozing off
The cause of the accident is the human error of the driver, driving overnight and fatigue or sleep. Let us tell you that on the night of 14th June, 26 people including the driver left from Delhi for Chopta-Tungnath-Chandrashila in a 20 seater tempo-traveller. On 15th June at 11:30 in the afternoon, the vehicle went out of control near Rantoli on the Badrinath Highway and fell into the Alaknanda river. 15 people died in this accident. While 11 people are injured.
The vehicle had 20 seater pass
According to the information, the investigating officer, Deputy District Magistrate Ashish Chandra Ghildiyal has sent the report of the magisterial investigation to the District Magistrate. According to the Sub-District Magistrate, along with the purchase of the vehicle from the agency office in Gurgaon, information has been obtained about the details of the total booking till now, the states in which it was operated and the total distance. Apart from this, it has also become clear from the permit of the vehicle that the vehicle had 20 seater pass and a total of 26 people including the driver were riding in it.
Transport department suspended four employees
Following the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Transport Department has suspended the employees who were negligent in the accident. In the case, four transport employees found prima facie guilty of not checking the vehicle at the checkpost in Tapovan have been suspended.
