Four hundreds of years old caves built by kings found in Uttarakhand
The heritage of Parmar King Ajaypal is going to get recognition. One of the 52 forts, Devalgarh, was established by a king named Deval of Kangra Himachal Pradesh and then King Ajaypal established his capital here from Chandpurgarhi in 1512. In such a situation, the days of this historical area are going to change soon. Actually, in the history of Uttarakhand, the Archaeological Department has found 4 ancient tunnels and many evidences of the king’s reign in this fort of King Ajaypal. Now the Archaeological Department is planning to renovate the ancient tunnels found in this historical area.
Chandapurgarhi was the fort of King Ajaypal
It is said that the king’s court was here. Many ancient scripts written in this court can be seen on the walls of this court. These scripts prove that Devalgarh was the fort of King Ajaypal after Chandpurgarhi. King Ajaypal established his capital here and also ruled the Garhwal region. The Archaeological Department has found many evidences of the king’s dynasty who worshiped Gaura Devi and Raj Rajeshwari. Therefore, this fort of the king is currently under the Archaeological Department as a cultural heritage.
King Ajaypal had established the Maa Raj Rajeshwari Temple
It is believed that the Shriyantra was brought to the Maa Raj Rajeshwari Temple, which is called the Kuldevi of the Garhwal dynasty, by King Ajaypal. It is worshipped here with due rituals. Along with this, Bhairav Temple, Dakshin Kali Temple as well as other small and big temples are present here. The Gaura Devi Temple built in Katyuri style and many ancient rocks of Katyuri style present here and the court of the king built in Katyuri style are proof of this. Apart from this, four ancient tunnels have also been found here. These tunnels are from the time of Katyuri rule. Some of them are 75 meters long and some are 150 meters long.
Four tunnels have been found in Devalgarh
After the Archaeological Department noticed these ancient tunnels, the Department of Archaeology and Culture has now started their restoration. The advantage of this will be that this area, which is confined to the pages of Uttarakhand’s history, will also get a new identity. Historians will visit this area to know the king’s fort closely, due to which this religious place will create a new identity.
Maa Raj Rajeshwari is the Kuldevi
The priest of the temple, Kunjika Prasad Uniyal, said that the ancient tunnels present in this area had been discovered a long time ago, but now these caves have come to the notice of the Archaeological Department. In this area, there are many such rocks and courts including the ancient Gaura Devi temple, the ancient idol and temple of Raj Rajeshwari, which are also called Som ka Manda. This is proof of the fact that the dynasty of King Ajaypal of the Parmar dynasty has lived in this area for a long time. The king ruled here as an emperor. King Ajaypal also established the Raj Rajeshwari temple here, which is called the Kuldevi of the Thakurs. The priest of the temple said that the renovation of the tunnel will prove to be effective in giving a new identity to this place. If Devalgarh, which is present in the history of Uttarakhand, gets recognition, then this religious and historical place will be able to make its mark.
