Mamata Banerjee’s troubles may increase, Governor files defamation case, know the whole matter

West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose on Friday filed a defamation case against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the Calcutta High Court. He has filed this case due to Mamata Banerjee’s statement, in which the Chief Minister had said that some women had complained to him that they were afraid to go there due to the activities taking place in the Raj Bhavan.

Earlier, Bose had criticized Mamata Banerjee’s remarks on Thursday. Bose had said that public representatives are expected not to make ‘wrong and reprehensible assumptions’. The source said that the Governor of Bengal has also filed a defamation case against some other leaders of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for making similar remarks.

Why was the case registered?

Let us tell you that during an administrative meeting held at the State Secretariat on Thursday, Mamata Banerjee had claimed that some women had told her that they are afraid to go to the Raj Bhavan due to the recent incidents there. According to the source, Governor CV Anand Bose has filed a defamation case against the TMC chief and his party leaders in the Calcutta High Court on Friday.

Allegation of molestation against the Governor

It is worth noting that on May 2, a contract female employee of Raj Bhavan had accused Governor Bose of molestation. After this, Kolkata Police had investigated the matter. Meanwhile, when TMC Rajya Sabha MP Dola Sen was contacted on the matter, she said that she cannot comment on the matter without discussing it with the party leadership. Sen told news agency PTI, “I will have to talk to the party leadership to know what really happened. This is a very sensitive matter.”

BJP supports Bose

Meanwhile, in the case, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rahul Sinha said that Bose has taken the right decision by filing the case. Sinha said, “I think Governor Bose has taken the right decision. He should have taken this decision long ago. I fully support him.”

At the same time, senior CPI(M) leader Sujan Chakraborty has also reacted in this regard. He said that the state is not getting any benefit from the conflict between Bose and Banerjee. Chakraborty said, “This is really harming us. It seems that they have forgotten their constitutional responsibilities and their actions are damaging the image of West Bengal.”
