Tank accident in Ladakh, five soldiers martyred, accident happened due to rising water level of the river

A major accident took place in Daulat Beg Oldi area of ​​Ladakh this morning. According to the information, the army personnel were practicing crossing the river. During this time the water level of the river rose and the soldiers were swept away. According to the defense officer, five army personnel were martyred in this accident. This included a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO). This accident happened this morning near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) at Mandir Mor in Daulat Beg Oldi area of ​​​​Ladakh.

According to army officials, the incident happened during tank exercise at around 3 am. The army had to cross the river in this exercise. This incident happened due to sudden rise in water level. All five bodies have been recovered. The tank was going towards Tangste when this tragic accident happened. Meanwhile, a senior police officer posted in Leh told the media that the concerned post is about 150 km from here. Accurate information will be shared after receiving the report from the accident site. At the time of the incident, five soldiers including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and 4 soldiers were aboard the tank.

It is being told that DBO is the first contact point of Galwan Valley, where clashes took place between the Indian Army and PLA in 2020. The LAC in Ladakh is of strategic importance to India, given the 1962 war against China and the recent clashes between the Indian Army and the People’s Liberation Army in June 2020.
