Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi took over as the new Army Chief

Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi took charge as the new Army Chief on Sunday. He replaced General Manoj C Pandey. Earlier, Upendra Dwivedi was serving as the Deputy Army Chief. On June 11, the Central Government announced the appointment of Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi as the new Army Chief.

Let us tell you that Dwivedi was commissioned in 18 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles in 1984. After this, he also took command of this unit. He has the distinction of balancing both the North and West theaters. Upendra Dwivedi played an important role in conducting anti-terrorism operations as the Northern Commander.

Upendra Dwivedi was born on July 1, 1964. He was commissioned in the Infantry of the Indian Army on 15 December 1984. During his long and distinguished service of nearly 40 years, he has served in various commands, staff, training and foreign appointments.

He was made Deputy Army Chief this year

On 15 February this year, Upendra was made Deputy Army Chief. He commanded a battalion in Chowkibal during Operation Rakshak. Lieutenant General Dwivedi has a deep understanding of the challenges posed by China and Pakistan, as he has held responsibility as General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command for two years.
