On one hand, the government is removing encroachments in slums from Kathbungla to Mothorwala in the capital, while on the other hand, the MLAs of the government itself are raising questions on this action.
Politics heats up on encroachment removal campaign
The encroachment removal campaign is continuing in the capital Dehradun. After the order of NGT, the Municipal Corporation and MDDA are continuously taking action on the applications. Till now, the Municipal Corporation has run a bulldozer on about 54 houses. Along with this, MDDA has run yellow paw on about 45 houses.
People are getting upset after the action of removing encroachment. Certainly, this is also putting pressure on the local public representatives. The MLAs who have won from here also have a big vote bank. In such a situation, while most of the people are silent on this action of the government, there are some MLAs of the government itself. Who are expressing their sharp reaction to this action.
Government’s own MLAs are raising questions
According to a government order, on the action being taken by the Municipal Corporation and MDDA on the encroachments in Dehradun after 11 March 2016, BJP MLA and former Mayor of Dehradun Municipal Corporation Vinod Chamoli has said that after the court’s order, the court should have given another direction in the action being taken to remove the encroachment. In which action should also have been taken against those officers under whose protection illegal encroachments have been done. Because the houses which are being demolished had permanent electricity connections. While in some houses the Municipal Corporation tax was being paid.
On the statement of MLA Vinod Chamoli, BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt said that the government is taking its action under all the rules. No injustice will be done to anyone. If someone has encroached on government land, then just action will be taken against him too.
Congress is also supporting the statement of BJP MLA
Congress is also now supporting the statement of BJP MLA. Regarding this, the state vice president of Congress, Mathura Dutt Joshi said that he is repeatedly saying that the Congress is raising this issue from day one, you are demolishing people’s houses but which councilor is responsible for the one who got the land occupied, during whose tenure the occupation happened.
Which Nagar Palika President is responsible for that, which Municipal Corporation officer is responsible for that. Why is the government not taking action against him, why is it not happening, this is what we are saying. Mathura Dutt Joshi said that he thanks Vinod Chamoli that at least he has done the work of supporting the accused of Congress.
