Maharashtra: Zika virus wreaked havoc in Pune, 2 pregnant women also among the patients

These days, there is a stir in Pune due to the arrival of Zika virus. So far, 6 cases of this infection have been reported. Out of the 6 patients, 2 are pregnant women. It is being told that this virus spreads due to the bite of Aedes mosquito and this species of mosquito is also responsible for spreading viruses like dengue and chikungunya.

The health department of Pune Municipal Corporation has reported the sixth case of Zika virus infection and the second such infection in a pregnant woman. Zika virus infection has been found in a 35-year-old woman of Ganeshnagar in Erandwane.

What does WHO say?

According to the World Health Organization, Zika virus usually spreads due to the bite of Aedes mosquitoes. These mosquitoes can make victims anytime during the day and night. These mosquitoes are also responsible for dengue, chikungunya and yellow fever. Apart from this, it can also spread through sexual intercourse and blood transfusion. Along with this, if a pregnant woman comes in contact with it, then there is a 99 percent chance that it can also spread from the woman to her fetus. Not only this, according to health experts, if a pregnant woman gets infected with this, then her child’s brain may also remain small.
