Uttarakhand: They don’t want easy areas, they want to serve in inaccessible areas only… 3897 teachers don’t want to be transferred from the hills

These days, teachers in the state are making rounds of the MLA, minister and even the Chief Minister’s office to get posted in accessible schools in some districts including Dehradun and Haridwar. At the same time, there are 3897 teachers who, instead of getting transferred to accessible areas, want to serve in remote and extremely remote schools in the hills.

These teachers have applied to the department to remain in remote areas instead of getting transferred to accessible areas. Under the Uttarakhand Public Servants Annual Transfer Act 2017, the process of transfer of teachers and employees is going on in the education department these days.

Amidst this process, some teachers in the Directorate of Education and the government can be seen applying the recommendation of MLAs and ministers for transfer to schools in accessible areas. Whereas it is clear in the Transfer Act that if any government servant tries to put pressure against the transfer order, then his conduct will be considered a violation of the Government Employee Conduct Rules and disciplinary action will be taken against him as per the Uttarakhand Government Servants Rules 2003.

Despite this, recommendation letters are reaching the department for transfers. In the Directorate and the Government, since morning, the minister or his public relations officer is seen around the officers for transfers. According to the Director of Secondary Education, Mahavir Singh Bisht, 3897 teachers in secondary education have applied to the department to remain in remote and very remote schools.

These teachers have clearly said that they do not want deployment in schools in accessible areas. There are 1248 lecturers in this. Whereas 1543 Assistant Teachers LT are included in Garhwal Division and 1102 in Kumaon Division. According to the Director of Education, these teachers who do not want deployment in accessible areas will remain in the schools of remote areas.

These teachers are an example

The teachers of the Education Department who have been serving in remote schools of the mountains for years. Even after this, they do not want to come to the accessible areas and want to remain in the mountains. They are an example for those officers and employees of the government and administration, who consider service in the mountains as a punishment.

The number of such teachers will increase

The number of teachers who want to be posted in the mountains instead of inaccessible places will increase now. 3897 teachers who want to be posted in remote areas are from secondary education. According to Additional Director Basic Education RL Arya, transfers of teachers of junior high schools and primary schools are done at the district level. The Directorate has not yet received information about such teachers from the districts.

Many teachers will benefit

Those teachers of the state who do not want their transfer from remote and very remote schools. Those teachers will not come under the 15 percent limit set for transfers. This will benefit those teachers who have not been able to move from remote to accessible areas for years.
