Euro Cup 2024: Portugal vs France and Spain vs Germany, eight teams for the quarter-finals decided
UEFA Euro Cup 2024 is slowly reaching its conclusion. The knockout round has started. After the Round of 16, the quarter-finals will now begin from July 5. Some big teams had to be eliminated by the Round of 16. Defending champion Italy is among those teams. The tournament started with 24 teams and now only eight teams are left. The five favorite teams of Euro 2024 – France, England, Portugal, Spain and host Germany are still in the race.
Netherlands, Switzerland and Turkey have also managed to make it to the last-8. However, only two teams from France, Portugal, Spain and Germany will be able to go from the quarter-finals to the semi-finals. In the quarter-finals, Spain will face Germany on July 5 and Portugal will face France. The two winning teams among these will clash in the semi-finals.
Portugal and France played a 2-2 draw in Euro 2020, but so far their star footballers have not been able to do anything amazing. Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe have also not yet created a storm in the tournament. Switzerland have proved to be giant killers. After almost defeating Germany, they easily defeated defending champions Italy in the Round of 16 and knocked them out of the tournament. Now they face England. England’s team has so far been dependent on Jude Bellingham in this tournament.
In the last match of the quarter-finals, Netherlands will face Turkey. Turkey defeated strong Austria, while Netherlands defeated Romania 3-0. The winner of Spain-Germany will face the winner of Portugal-France in the semi-finals, while the winner of England-Switzerland will face the winner of Netherlands-Turkey.
