Hathras stampede: Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed grief over the accident, sent a condolence message
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday expressed condolences over the loss of lives in a stampede at a religious gathering in Uttar Pradesh in which 121 people were killed. “Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a message of condolence to the President of India Draupadi Murmu and the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on the tragic stampede in Uttar Pradesh. Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the tragic accident in Uttar Pradesh,” the Russian embassy in India said in a post on ‘X’.
Lakhs of devotees had gathered
A stampede broke out after a satsang ceremony near Phulrai village in Sikandrarao area of Hathras district in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. Uttar Pradesh police on Wednesday filed an FIR against the organisers of the satsang. Lakhs of devotees had gathered here on Tuesday for the programme of Bhole Baba, popularly known as Narayan Sakar Vishwa Hari. More devotees than the permission of the administration had reached the venue for the satsang programme and during this a stampede broke out.
CM Yogi strict
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken a tough stand on the incident in Hathras. An SIT has been formed under the chairmanship of Agra ADG to investigate the matter. CM Yogi himself is monitoring the entire incident. CM Yogi has also visited the spot. In the press conference, CM Yogi pointed towards a conspiracy in the incident and said, “Was it an accident or a conspiracy and if it was a conspiracy, then who is involved in it… To know all these aspects, we will also conduct a judicial inquiry which will be conducted under the chairmanship of a retired High Court judge.”
