Uttarakhand: Rain caused havoc, heavy debris came on Kotdwar-Najibabad highway, traffic disrupted
The rain in Uttarakhand has created havoc in the hilly areas. The highway has been closed due to heavy debris falling from the hill on the Kotdwar-Najibabad highway of Pauri. Due to which there is a long jam on both sides of the road.
Kotdwar-Najibabad highway closed
Due to the debris continuously coming from the hill between Kotdwar Dugdda on NH-534, the traffic on the highway has been completely banned from 8 pm to 5 am. Giving information, Pauri District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan said that debris is coming from the hill at about 35 places in the eight km area between Dugdda Kotdwar. In view of which, instructions have been given to keep JCB and Pocland machines deployed there at all times. While traffic on this road has been banned at night.
IMD issued warning for these districts
The Director of Meteorological Department Vikram Singh has issued a red alert for heavy rain in some areas of Nainital, Bageshwar, Champawat, Almora, Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar districts of Kumaon division. While an orange alert has been issued for heavy rain along with lightning in some places in the capital Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri and Haridwar districts. Along with this, people traveling in hilly areas have been appealed to be cautious.
