Uttarakhand: Rain wreaks havoc in Nainital, Kaladhungi-Nainital road blocked due to falling of tree

After the onset of monsoon in Uttarakhand, the havoc of rain is being seen in the hill districts. In Nainital, after the weather department issued a red alert, it is raining continuously. Due to the continuous heavy rain, normal life has been disrupted.

Kaladhungi-Nainital road obstructed due to falling of tree

Kaladhungi-Nainital road has been obstructed due to heavy debris and falling of tree. At the same time, the police has closed the traffic due to heavy water in Surya drain. The administration has advised the people living in the coastal areas of the river and drains to stay safe due to heavy rain. Along with this, instructions have been given to vacate the houses which are in danger.

On the other hand, the water in the river and drains has also started increasing. SSP Prahlad Meena says that due to the alert of the weather department, all the police stations and posts have been kept on alert mode. Police have been instructed to remain deployed on the rain drains or culverts coming out from the middle of the highway or district road. SDRF has also been kept in reserve. Satellite phones have been installed in flood posts. Apart from this, all the teams are ready for relief and rescue work.

Weather department issued forecast

Weather department has issued a red alert for heavy rain in some areas of Nainital, Bageshwar, Champawat, Almora, Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar districts. Whereas an orange alert has been issued for heavy rain with lightning in some places in Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri and Haridwar districts.
