Red alert for heavy rain in Uttarakhand for next 3 days, school Anganwadi centres closed, helpline number released

The residents of the state are not going to get relief from monsoon rains yet. The Meteorological Center has predicted heavy rains in the coming three days i.e. 4, 5 and 6 July. This time monsoon rains are more active in Kumaon. Monsoon has so much pressure on the sky of Kumaon that a red alert has been issued regarding the possibility of very heavy rain.

Red alert of rain: Along with this, there will be heavy rain in Garhwal division as well. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert predicting heavy rains in Tehri, Pauri, Dehradun and Haridwar districts. There will be rain in other districts as well and a yellow alert has been issued for them. The next three days are so sensitive in terms of weather that the Meteorological Department has predicted excessive rain i.e. very heavy rains. In such a situation, special warning has been given to the people living in the hilly areas to avoid landslides.

Schools in Pauri will remain closed: An alert for heavy rain has been issued in Pauri district of Garhwal division. In view of this alert, all schools up to class 12 have been kept closed here today on Thursday. The District Magistrate’s office has informed the education department about this in advance, so that students and parents do not have to face trouble in the rain. Along with this, instructions have been given to keep Anganwadi centers closed.

Due to the red alert of heavy rain in Kumaon division, instructions have been given to close all schools and Anganwadi centers from class one to 12th in Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Champawat and Bageshwar districts.

Warning to stay away from rivers and drains in Kumaon: It has been raining in Kumaon and its surrounding areas for more than 24 hours. Due to rain, disaster-like situation has arisen at many places. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert of heavy rain in the district. Due to torrential rains, rivers and drains are in spate. Waterlogging has occurred in the areas adjacent to the coastal / drains.

To prevent any kind of untoward incident due to rain, all the teams of Nainital Police are issuing warnings to the people through loudspeakers at various places in the district. Police is issuing instructions through loudspeakers to people living on the banks of rivers and streams to stay safe and move away from there in case of heavy water.

Nainital Police has appealed to all travellers and local people not to go to the river and waterlogged areas during the rains. Do not leave your homes unnecessarily and keep yourself safe. SSP Nainital Prahlad Narayan Meena has appealed to the people to avoid travelling on the mountains during the rains and not to travel by risking their lives.
