Uttarakhand: 90% work of UCC friendly portal completed, from October everyone will be equal in the eyes of the state law

From October, everyone will be equal in the eyes of the law in Uttarakhand. By abolishing the personal laws of different religions, the rules of marriage, divorce, live-in relationships and will will be the same for everyone. The technical work of making the portal through which the common people will get its benefits user-friendly is almost 90 percent complete.
The portal’s app is also being developed. The committee preparing the rules for the UCC is preparing to implement the rules by the coming October. The work of preparing the rules is being done by a nine-member committee constituted under the chairmanship of former Chief Secretary Shatrughan Singh. This task was given to the committee in the second week of February this year.
The committee is working fast after the Lok Sabha elections. On one hand, the rules for the UCC are being prepared, on the other hand, the work of preparing the portal for implementing it is also being done along with training the personnel.
The state government will announce the date soon
The government had not yet set any date for implementing the UCC rules, it was only claimed that the rules would be implemented soon. Meanwhile, Lok Sabha elections were also held. According to the committee, UCC is directly connected to the common people, which was decided to be implemented only after full preparation. The work of preparing its rules has been completed about 60 percent, but more important than that is to make the portal for implementing UCC user friendly, on which the work of Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA) is almost 90 percent complete.
Marriage, divorce and live-in registration will be easy
Under this Act, registration is mandatory for marriage, divorce and live-in, so the process of registration of all three on the portal is being made user friendly. There is an attempt to make such a simple system that those using the internet will be able to register their marriage, divorce or live-in relationship themselves. Those who are not comfortable with the internet or the system will be able to take advantage of these facilities from the Common Service Center. These centers are also within the reach of rural areas of Uttarakhand. A mobile application is also being prepared for registration from home.
