Accidents have also happened once. Devotees have lost their lives in stampedes many times at fairs and festivals. In 2013, many people died due to stampede in an event of Shantikunj on Neel Island.
Haridwar DM Dhiraj Singh Garbyal said that taking a lesson from the Hathras incident, we will keep an eye on the religious programs to be held in Haridwar. How much crowd will be there in these programs and before that the organizers will have to take permission. In which all the information related to the program will have to be given. He said that the crowd and the pandal will first be checked by the administrative officials, so that no incident of any kind occurs in these religious programs.
Dhiraj Singh Garbyal said that we will instruct the organizers to follow all the rules related to SOP in the pandal or in the surrounding area. Also, the organizers will have to keep in mind that more crowd than the allowed crowd should not gather at the venue. On the other hand, if we talk about the fire administration, then whatever norms are there for giving permission, they will have to be fulfilled by the organizers. He said that many places will have to be made for entry and exit in the pandals.
