Uttarakhand: Officers should immediately provide the report of damage caused by excessive rain to the government, negligence of officers and employees will not be tolerated during the monsoon season – CM

Due to heavy rains in the past few days, along with the damage caused in Champawat district due to waterlogging in the plains, Honorable Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached Tanakpur and Banbasa and inquired about the damage from the officials. He conducted a field inspection of various areas, met the affected people, listened to their problems and inquired about the damage caused by the disaster from the officials and assured that whatever loss the affected people have suffered due to heavy rains will be compensated by the government, for which he directed Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat and District Magistrate Navneet Pandey to take necessary action and said that along with distributing the relief amount to the affected people immediately, the restoration work should be done promptly and monitor the works being done and proposed works from time to time. During his visit, Hon’ble Chief Minister reached Sailanigoth, Sharda Ghat and talked to the people affected by waterlogging as well as other types of people and assured that the government is committed to help the affected people in this hour of disaster. At Sharda Ghat, the local people told the Hon’ble Chief Minister that the damage in the area has been reduced due to the works done by the irrigation department, for which they thanked the Hon’ble Chief Minister and demanded that similar flood protection works should be done in other places as well. During this, the Hon’ble Chief Minister also conducted an aerial survey of Tanakpur, Banbasa areas, and then gave necessary instructions to the officials. He instructed the officials to immediately take information about the damage and loss to the flood-affected areas and families and provide immediate relief amount to the affected people. He met the affected people and said that in this crisis, the government is committed to provide all possible help to the affected people and the government will compensate the people for the loss. He instructed the officials to quickly prepare an assessment of the government assets damaged in the district due to heavy rains and immediately prepare a proposal for its compensation and send it to the government, so that the damage to the government assets can be compensated soon. He directed all road construction agencies that as soon as information is received about road blockage, they should immediately open the road and work to make it smooth, so that no traveler faces any kind of problem. He directed the officials to make immediate arrangements for drainage of water from wherever there is waterlogging in Tanakpur, Banbasa plain areas.

The Honorable Chief Minister said that funds will be released for permanent solution to the drainage problem in Tanakpur, Banbasa areas, so that the people here will get relief from the drainage problem.

He directed the Irrigation Department to prepare a comprehensive action plan for the diversion of Kiroda Nala, so that the water of Kiroda Nala does not go to the populated area and people do not suffer any kind of loss. He directed the NHAI officials to immediately take action to open all the drains that are choked and there should not be any waterlogging due to choked drains. Also, the officers of the road construction departments were instructed to immediately take action to dispose of the debris, boulders etc. on the roads. He said that if the road is blocked due to debris etc. from Kirora Bridge to Batangadh, then take immediate action to open it so that the devotees who come to visit Maa Purnagiri do not face any kind of problem. He instructed the Water Institute and Electricity Department to work to keep the water and electricity system smooth 24 hours a day. He said that the time has come for immediate assessment of whatever damage has been caused due to heavy rains in the past few days, the officers should go to the spot soon and assess the damage and submit the report and solve the problems of the people in time.

During this, District Magistrate Navneet Pandey said that during the heavy rains till Monday, 01 life loss, 17 cows and 43 goats have been lost in the district, 02 buildings were completely damaged and 42 buildings were partially damaged.

He informed that the families affected by waterlogging in Tanakpur, Banbasa area have been shifted to relief camps and their relatives.

During this, the Chief Minister also inspected the silt injector area built on Sharda Canal and gave necessary instructions to the General Manager NHPC.

During this, BJP District President Nirmal Mahara, MLA representative Deepak Rajwar, BJP State Minister Hema Joshi, Commissioner Kumaon Deepak Rawat DIG Yogendra Rawat, District Magistrate Navneet Pandey, Superintendent of Police Ajay Ganpati, CDO Sanjay Kumar Singh along with local public representatives, villagers etc. were present.
