Uttarakhand: Road closed in Joshimath due to landslide, polling parties are being transported to Gopeshwar by helicopter

By-elections for Badrinath and Mangalore assembly seats are over. Polling parties had to reach Gopeshwar after completing the elections. But due to the closure of the road in Joshimath, the polling parties could not return. On Thursday, polling parties are being transported from Joshimath to Gopeshwar by helicopter along with polling material.

Let us tell you that helicopters have been called for polling parties of remote polling stations Dronagiri, Jumma, Kosha and Arudi Patudi. Today is the third day since the highway has been closed. But boulders are coming down from the mountains intermittently. Due to which there is a problem in opening the highway.

IMD issued alert for these districts

According to Vikram Singh, Director of Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain at some places in the capital Dehradun, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Champawat districts on Thursday. The rest of the districts will remain partly cloudy with light to moderate rain. Along with this, people have been advised not to go to landslide affected areas.
