Karnataka: Roadways bus fares are going to increase, right now they are incurring this much loss

Roadways bus fares may be increased soon in Karnataka. Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation Chairman SR Srinivas has also indicated this. He has clearly said that due to rising oil prices, the increase in bus fares is inevitable. He told that the fare was last increased in 2019, which has been five years now. Apart from this, it is needed to cover operating costs and support employee benefits in the current economic conditions.

Proposal for 40 new Volvo buses submitted to the government
Srinivas informed that a proposal for 40 new Volvo buses has been submitted to the government. He said, we have already purchased 600 regular buses. We have proposed a fare hike of 5 to 20 percent. The final decision on the rate hike will depend on the Chief Minister. Along with this, he clarified that the fare hike will not have any adverse effect on male passengers. The ticket price for women passengers will also be increased, but this increase will be covered under the Shakti Yojana.
